Item Description
INSTALLATION
1.Remove transfer case from vehicle, and then remove extension housing from transmission.
2.Inspect for damage to the main shaft, gears & lock nut
3.Reinstall the locknut on the shaft. Factory recommended torque is 280 ft. lbs ( real, real
tight, locknut retainer will keep it from loosen again )
4. Slide the locknut retainer over the shaft splines and into the correct alignment position of
the locknut (4 Tabs), then tap with a hammer to verify full seated position.
5th Gear Lock Nut Retainer
Function:
Prevents and repairs the common issue of the NV4500 5th gear nut backing off of the shaft, causing failure. Retain factory main shaft lock nut fitment.
5th Gear Lock Nut Kit
Function:
The lock nut will vibrate loose over time and allow the 5th-gear assembly to work its way off the splines of the shaft and no longer mesh with the companion gear.
E-cowlboy updated lock nut kit retains factory main shaft lock nut fitment, prevents and repairs issues with 5th gear engagement.
