    Description

McKeen Motor Car Builder Plate for Railroad Motor Car REPRODUCTION.  This is 1 of the 25 Promotional Replica Builder's Plates the Nevada State Railroad Museum produced in 2001 for thier restoration of the Virginia & Truckee #22 McKeen Motor Car.  I do not know the original sale price, I bought this from another collector. This plate has a Nice high polish with no lacquer.
The plate is 1lb 8oz, 7 1/4" inches wide, 3 5/16" Inches Tall, 1/4" Thick.  It is made of Solid Bronze with the red painted inlay.
Only 4 original McKeen Builder's Plates are known to exist. The one on the V&T #22, a Black inlay plate from Texas in my collection, and another plate in a private collection with no form of identification.  The 4th plate was a casting that was never finished and taken home by an employee and was never asigned to a car.  Builders plates were not installed on the McKeen cars until after 1909 or so, and were mounted beneath the Motor Man's Door on port side.
