The Major Capsaicinoids (MC) are the true measure of pepper spray heat
Major Capsaicinoids (MC) are the chemical components of peppers that make them hot. Measuring by MC is a laboratory conducted and very accurate test for gauging hotness. Oleoresin Capsicum is the oil extracted that contains within it the Major Capsaciniods.
Pepper Shot 1/2 oz Quick Key Release Keychain Pepper Spray
Pepper Shot 1.2% MC 1/2 oz rhinestone leatherette holster and quick release keychain pink. Pepper Shot Pepper Spray is made with 1.2% Major Capsaicinoids. The Major Capsaicinoids are the true heat measure and Pepper Shot 1.2% MC is more effective than of most other pepper sprays. In addition to causing an attacker pain, The Pepper Shot 8.5% oleoresin capsicum formula swells the mucous membranes, which makes breathing difficult, and swells the veins in the eyes, causing the eyes to close. It's made from 2,000,000 SHU's of raw pepper and these effects can last up to 45 minutes and cause no permanent damage.
1/2 oz with rhinestone leatherette holster, locking actuator UV Dye and quick key release keychain.
Effective up to 8 feet. Contains 5 one second bursts.
What Determines How Effective OC Is? (please see the heat chart in the photo gallery)
There are brands trying to fool the buying public. Here's an example of one well known company doing this.
They show the raw measurements on the packaging but not what's actually in the final spray they are selling. This is very misleading.
Using their own numbers of raw pepper at 5,300,000 SHU and Major Capsaicinoids at 35% and formula using 2% of the raw, then the
MC would only be 0.7% -- less than that of Pepper Shot's (1.2%).
*** The lock mechanism is referred to as an 'actuator'. It is the red nozzle that you depress to spray the product.
The actuator must be turned to remove safety and firmly pressed to release the product.
It is unlikely that it would release in a pocket, however if it did, you could flush the area with water.
1. What is the maximum temperature for storing this unit?
Maximum temperature is 120 degrees.
2. In the description, you claim that the maximum duration of effects is 45 min. Can this be shortened via methods such as showers?
Time is the only real way to wear off the effects of the spray. I've been sprayed, a cold shower can help alleviate the pain but does shorten the effects.
3. If the attacker were to steal the pepper spray, what advice could you provide in order to protect yourself?
If they do cover your face. Ideally you have already emptied the can of pepper spray on the attacker, before they have a chance to get close enough and steal it from you.

Of all the non-lethal
self defense products
, the pepper spray is probably the most popular.
Here's a little history of the pepper spray.
Even though using pepper spray didn't start to be popular as a self defense product until the 1980's, history discloses that red chili pepper was in use for personal protection in ancient India and China. There are quite a few historical documents showing it's use in China thousands of years ago. Chinese people and even warriors had a innovative technique of making use of this spice; and it included wrapping grounded cayenne in rice papers making it easy to throw in the faces of people and break.
It was favored as a weapon of choice for self defense because it would incapacitate a person momentarily. The secret martial art society in ancient Japan called the Ninjas has been using grounded pepper for disabling their adversaries for hundreds of years. Historical data reveals that in the Tokagawa Empire era in Japan, starting in the early 1600's, the police used a weapon called the Metsubishi. It was a Japanese weapon created to blind an enemy, used by ninja and law officers who might prefer to take someone alive, the Metsubishi was a little square or round box that was hollow and could be opened and loaded with different powders from pepper to ground glass depending on what they were trying to accomplish. A mouthpiece was then installed to the box and a short tube to make it easy for the powders to be blown into the face of the target. It was a very small and easily concealed weapon.
