The Greyhound can reach a full speed of up to 43 miles per hour within six strides. The only animal that can accelerate faster is a cheetah, which can reach speeds of up to 68 mile per hour in 3-4 strides.
Despite their amazing speed, they are not a hyperactive breed, and may in fact make better "apartment dogs" than smaller, more active breeds. Some owners refer to their Greyhounds as "45 mile per hour couch potatoes."
