Description
Here's a straight 17-fret tenor banjo neck with all the frets tightly seated and full height. The serial number stamped on the dowel stick is 14272, suggesting a date circa 1921. String scale is 20 7/8 inches, end of dowel stick is 10 1/8 inches from the heel cap. Note the crack in the neck heel, which appears to have been poorly reglued without getting the pieces in alignment but there's no glue in sight. Original inlays are all intact in the dyed hardwood fingerboard, which has some finger divots behind the first 3 frets but there are no apparent cracks and almost no fret wear. The headstock facing has only tiny hairline cracks around the tuner holes and the elaborate pearl inlay is in excellent shape. Neck has its original natural shellac/varnish finish. We Ship on the Tuesday following the end of the Sunday auctions.
